What is Emu Oil?

For thousands of years Australian Aborigines have used one natural ingredient that would require an entire medicine chest today. This ingredient is Emu Oil.

The oil comes from the Emu bird. The bird is a hardy native of Australia that roamed the outback nearly 80 million years ago and still exists today.

Nationally acclaimed researcher, Dr. Barry Sears said, "Emu Oil is an untapped resource and currently now is where aspirin was in the early 1900's."

Emu oil is an amazing and versatile product. It can be used internally and externally, it can be used anywhere on your body and not cause discomfort or a reaction, and it is so safe you can use it on the youngest newborn with no ill-effects.

Because it absorbs so quickly and deeply, emu oil is also the perfect carrier for other therapeutic ingredients. Simply by combining something with emu oil, anything else will work better. This is why we include it in so many BLUESPRING products.

At BLUESPRING, we sell only Prime Emu Oil. We undergo a series of steps to select the best Prime Emu Oil for our customers. Starting our quality with feed supply, the second step is processing and the third step is analysis from a third party to make sure the properties of the oil are as we promised. The fourth step is an independent analysis to verify oil from new growers against the analysis.

We know of no other company that undertakes these steps to insure that their customers receive the highest quality available.

There are no standards for this procedure and even the AEA (American Emu Association) has no regulation and monitoring of standards that BLUESPRING Guarantees.

How Does it Help My Problem?

Emu Oil is one of the best natural moisturizers available, but it is also so much more.

Emu Oil – Mother Nature's Anti-Inflammatory

In recent years diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and atherosclerosis have made plenty of headlines. These ailments are on the rise, especially as the Baby Boomers reach retirement age. While there have been advancements in pharmaceuticals that treat the symptoms of these diseases, until recently there has been very little research into the cause.

That's right, cause, not causes.

Research currently underway, both in Europe and the US, show that a condition known as Chronic Inflammation may be the root cause of these conditions, along with many others including:

  • Multiple forms of Arthritis
  • Stomach Cancer
  • Asthma
  • Allergies
  • Colon Cancer
  • Multiple Sclerosis

What is Inflammation?

There are two distinct types of inflammation.

Acute inflammation is your body's natural response to injury or infection. The swelling, heat, and redness around a splinter or paper cut are great examples of acute inflammation doing its job, your body's immune system responding to a foreign invader, fending off disease-causing bacteria, viruses, and parasite. The heat and white blood cells lay waste to these attackers, as well as destroying any tissues that may be infected.

Chronic inflammation occurs when this immune response doesn't shut down on cue, once the invaders have been destroyed. Instead, our bodies turn on themselves, with after effects that seem to cause a wide variety of other problems and conditions. This concept is so intriguing because it suggests a new and possibly much simpler way of warding off disease. Instead of different treatments for, say, heart disease, Alzheimer's and colon cancer, there might be a single, inflammation-reducing remedy that would prevent all three.

The Natural Approach to Fighting Inflammation

Taking a natural approach to reducing chronic inflammation is probably the safest.

For hundreds of years emu oil has been used historically by the Australian aborigines for the treatment of burns, wounds, bruises, and as a pain reliever for bone, muscle, and joint disorders.

Emu Oil appears to be one of the newly re-discovered secrets from the ancient world. A 2003 study was done at the Forsyth Institute in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, on Emu oil and its reported anti-inflammatory properties. Studies have shown that emu oil contributes to a reduction in:

  • Inflammation
  • Joint pain
  • Stiffness
  • Bruising
  • Muscle pain

Emu Oil – A Great Source of Anti-Oxidants

Emu oil naturally contains two of the most powerful anti-oxidants, Vitamins A & E. These two anti-oxidants fight free radicals which damage the skin and contribute to aging and wrinkles. When used as a topical, emu oil delivers anti-oxidants vitamins A and E directly to the skin where it penetrates and contributes to healthy skin.

And it doesn't stop there! Emu oil also contains:

  • Linoleic acid, which helps to ease muscle aches and joint pain
  • Oleic acid, a proven skin cell regenerator and anti-wrinkle agent
  • Sapogens, proven skin softeners
  • Terpines, known antiseptics

Emu Oil – The Best Natural Moisturizer for Your Skin

Like our skin, emu oil contains no phospholipids. When you use a moisturizer that does contain phospholipids, your skin rejects them. Part of the moisturizer is never absorbed. Emu oil quickly and easily absorbs through all of the layers of your skin, hydrating even the deepest layers. Over time, it can even help thicken your skin, making it smoother, softer, and suppler.

But it does much more than just moisturize and soften the skin; emu oil can also improve the appearance of:

  • Scars
  • Stretch Marks
  • Damaged skin after Injury
  • Burns
  • Sun Damage
  • Damaged skin from Acne
  • Wrinkles
  • Damaged skin from Pregnancy
  • Damaged skin after Surgery

Treat yourself with the best nature has to offer. Emu oil is the 100% natural way to pamper your skin while avoiding any trace of chemicals or harmful additives.

Australian Aborigine settlers colonized what is now Australia over forty thousand years ago. The Aborigines have used the emu for thousands of years as a source of food, clothing, jewelry and even the oil as a natural remedy. They used Emu Oil to gain relief from minor aches and pains, to help heal wounds quicker, and protect their skin from the harsh elements of wind and sun. The Aborigines collected the oil as a natural sun screen and skin moisturizer. The use of Emu Oil was among many natural remedies adopted by settlers from the original inhabitants of Australia. Use of Emu Oil was most prevalent in country areas where it was applied in the treatment of bruised and subcutaneous tissue, burns and dry skin problems.

Ingredient Components

Essential Fatty Acids (EFA) - Emu Oil consist of three Essential Fatty Acids. Essential Fatty Acids are necessary fats that humans cannot produce, and must be obtained through diet. EFAs are long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids derived from linolenic, linoleic, and oleic acids. There are two families of EFAs: Omega-3, Omega-6, and Omega-9. EFAs support the cardiovascular, reproductive, immune, and nervous systems. The human body needs EFAs to manufacture and repair cell membranes, enabling the cells to obtain optimum nutrition and expel harmful waste products. One major function of EFAs is the production of prostaglandins, which regulate body functions such as heart rate, blood pressure, blood clotting, and play a role in immune function by regulating inflammation and encouraging the body to fight infection. Essential Fatty Acids are also needed for proper growth in children, particularly for neural development and maturation of sensory systems, with male children having higher needs than females. Fetuses and breast-fed infants also require an adequate supply of EFAs through the mother's dietary intake.

Linolenic Acid (ALA) (Omega 3) - are used in the formation of cell walls, making them supple and flexible, and improving circulation and oxygen uptake with proper red blood cell flexibility and function. Most clinical studies investigating the use of omega-3 fatty acid supplements for inflammatory joint conditions have focused almost entirely on rheumatoid arthritis. Research in this area conclude that omega-3 fatty acid supplements reduce tenderness in joints, decrease morning stiffness, and allow for people with rheumatoid arthritis.

Linoleic Acid (LA) (Omega 6) -Together, Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids play a crucial role in brain function as well as normal growth and development. EFAs belong to the class of fatty acids called polyunsaturated fatty acids. They are generally necessary for stimulating skin and hair growth, maintaining bone health, regulating metabolism. Deficiencies in EFAs can lead to reduced growth, a scaly rash called dermatitis, and lack of ability to fight infection and heal wounds.

Oleic Acid (Omega 9) -The human body can manufacture a limited amount, provided essential EFAs are present. Studies show Monounsaturated oleic acid may help to help boost memory, and help reduce blood cholesterol as long as the diet is very low in saturated fat. Oleic Acid is also found in emu oil, olive oil, olives, avocados, almonds, and peanuts.

Vitamin E - Vitamin E is a fat-soluble antioxidant, which protect cells from the damaging effects of free radicals. The mechanisms by which vitamin E might provide this protection include its function as an antioxidant and its roles in anti-inflammatory processes, inhibition of platelet aggregation, and immune enhancement. Vitamin E is also important in the formation of red blood cells and it helps the body to use Vitamin K. Vitamin E is added to BLUESPRING Emu Oil to help preserve the freshness and maintain the quality of emu oil.
